Also busy on computer on my end; 1 of my mods empties the desks...
-I'll be (re)introducing laptops / desktops to my users as place-able items for on desks and tables... (If I get round to it fully for next version.)

..Let's see if our things are going to clash at that time, but would like to be compatible.
Your computer mods have been around longer and would hate for users to then have to choose!
-I'll aim for least intrusive ways to do my ideas, so hopefully compatibility won't be a big issue...

Cool! Compatibility is a must have! I imagine that there shouldn't be many issues as long as we don't use the same names for objects. I expect there shouldn't be any graphics issues either assuming that our users aren't using too many mods that add sprites.

The current footprint of my sprites.png is 824x256. This footprint is expected to shrink after version 1.5 before possibly growing for future expansions.

That being said, my mod currently uses the following names:
OldDocument, DocumentExport, EcoComputer, ComputerStandard, LaptopStandard, ComputerDesk, ThinClient, Printer, LargePrinter, AdvPrinter, Documents, CircuitBoard, Document, PrinterInk, Porn, ComputerRoom, FileRoom, ComputerClassroom

I really like how the TVs change when there in use or not. Sounds like something I might have to do with my own computers, perhaps add something to the screens like a desktop.

Yeah, I was really happy with the results I was able to get by using rotated sniplets of the prepacked sprites. It even looks great from the side I haven't show in the teaser. If the screen is facing away and used, it gives a very transparent shimmer around the top part only... It is subtle yet noticeable :D

I was planning on doing an arcade machine with only ingame sprites with sounds, things happening on screen, costing money... get staff to play occasionally ... but may do that much later in an update to one of my mods.

Btw. I am needing and using the max size in my {paint, upgrade,...} mod, the one which will feature the laptops. So 1024x1024 (with no problems). For all my other mods I felt so guilty about the size of the first, I made them use no gfx at all... So we should be fine with mod together looking at size.

Looking at clashing objects, also I see little danger atm, unless were both overriding the desk.
-> I use quite unique names and only override out of pure necessity. (for having multiple looks to working items like doors etc). So we should be good!

I am hoping that Introversion get the errors with sprite overload fixed, I will point it out in Dec 3rds AMA on reddit for sure, as I'm not convinced they understand all facets of the current limitations(!)

Anyway, good to know I can join in on this common place (here) to discuss any issues or ideas that may arise :mrgreen:

ps. The end of the week should be when the computers from my end are updated in.

Please remove the useless DMCA message taking almost HALF of your huge sprites.png file. It can be 448x256 but it's taking 824x256 for no reason at all... It's using up precious space that could be used by other mods and thus makes things incompatible, just because you decided it needs a ridiculous amount of space to put stuff in there which 90% of the people will never know about. The community will be happier afterwards, I'm sure. Also check out the stickied topic about sprites.png sizing! Space for sprites is VERY limited, so your file should be as compact as possible. :wink:

The teacher won't show up and the prisonner wont sit in the classroom. Any way to fix this?

I am well aware that this is causing incompatibilities. The only reason that is there is because the sprites.png used to contain sprites from the vegetable patch mod in order to maintain compatibility when multiple sprites.png files weren't allowed in PA. After that issue was resolved I put that text there as a placeholder since I didn't have the time at the moment to shrink the file. This issue will be resolved hopefully sometime time in June. Thank you for reminding me about this.

I haven't experienced any issues with this. I'll take a look into the issue and see if I can fix it if there is indeed a bug.

Ah cool, that explains a lot! Talking about vegies, have a look at my recycling mod which has the garden integrated into the whole recycling concept 8)

Version 1.5 Contraband Update

Hello all, the next update of CAMM is here! Here is some info regarding version 1.5.

New Contraband

Lots of new contraband has been added to the computer lab. While this contraband may not help prisoners escape, it still needs to be dealt with! Make sure your computer labs have proper security measures!

New Feedback Hub

CAMM now has a new feedback hub where all the forms can be accessed. If you would like to request features, report bugs, or even help make CAMM, you can now access all the forms at http://blog.csmedia.x10host.com/computers-and-more-mod/feedback/. Also thank you for all your responses to our expansions concept feedback form! If you haven't yet filled it out, you have until June 15th at 11:59 PM to do so! We will be sharing the results of that shortly after it ends.

What's Next?

The next step for CAMM is to release a second service update to address maniny compatibility issues and bug fixes (if there are any bugs). After that I am not quite sure, I may go with adding servers next since that was one of the early planned features.

Version 1.5.1 (Service Release 2) is now available. This update contains solely compatibility fixes and bug fixes. Below is a change log.

*Resized sprite.png to improve compatibility
*Updated materials.txt to reflect new sprite file
*Resolved compatibility issue with Recycling by murgh
*Resolved an issue where the Computer Classroom was recognized as a workplace
*Resolved an issue where prisoners were not working in the File Room
*Resolved an issue where research was not displayed properly on non-widescreen resolutions (thanks to Monkey for finding this bug and providing a solution)

Version 1.6 Spring 2017 Update

Animated Sprites

All the computers now feature animated sprites. The screens of the computers will now turn on when a prisoner uses any computer or laptop.

Deluxe Computer

Image

A new tier of computers has been added to the game! The new Deluxe Computer offers family and recreation need satisfying at double the rate of the Standard Computer.

Balancing and Research Changes

Some changes have been made to better balance the game. The first of these is in the file room. Workman can no longer collect documents requiring the prisoners to take up the task. Additionally, each new tier of computers will need to be researched before they can be purchased.

Feedback needed!

User feedback is needed for the next version of CAMM! Animated sprites are being added to the vanilla TV's and a new television is being added. However, adding the animated sprites will change how the TV's function slightly. In order to decide how to implement the update, user feedback is needed. If anyone could complete the following quick survey that would be great!

Version 1.6.1 of CAMM has been released! This update is a smaller update that expands on the previous updates that added animated items.

Animated TVs

The vanilla TVs in game now have animated variants. Because animated sprites don't work with the broadcast effect of the TVs, the new animated versions are separate objects and don't replace the vanilla versions. Additionally, the animated versions cannot rotate.

Flat-Screen TV


Image

A new TV, the Flat-Screen TV, has been added to the game. This TV only comes in an animated variant and resolves the needs of a prisoner at double the rate of the Large TV.
