Mod suggestion: Project Pangaea!

Postby InfiniteFury » Wed Oct 04, 2006 3:31 pm

I have absolutely no modding skills but I thought it might make for an interesting game to play on the old Pangaea map ie before the continents split up.

Water battles round the edges and close (but potentially quick) games of cunning radar placement.

Thought I should stick the idea in here rather than anywhere else and if anyone wants to pick it up, go for it. I've ummed and aaahed about it and I don't think it's a terrible mod idea :-)

Yes, this would probably be better off in the think tank ... but I had actually been looking for a proper pic of Pangaea, so thank you for that! :)

Ah, good point. Who are the moderators here please? I'll PM one of them to get it moved.

I don't really know who's moderating this place, but I know for sure that Chris, NeoThermic and Icepick all have the priviledges to do so.

Could you by any chance tell a moderator to move this thread to the Mod Projects subforum as well? There's no reason to hassle the moderators more than absolutely necessary, and I bet it'd be easier if they get more than one move request in the same PM :)

Don't forget John! And Pangea and Gondwanaland are two of the first mods I want to see. :)

Did you forget Laurasia, or leave it out for some odd reason that makes sense only to you?
Some people talk because they have something to say. Others talk because they have to say something.

There's no way I can keep track of which people are who unless they've either;

Posted in a thread I made, or
Posted in a thread I'm following, or
Posted something relevant to my interests

... And yeah, how could you forget Laurasia? :P
(I know I wouldn't've forgotten it ... no, not ever ... well, maybe a little ... okay, I would've forgotten everything and started claiming that 2+2=5! ... Actually, isn't it?)

I left it out for a reason that would only make sense to me.

Also: Best bumper sticker ever, "Reunite Gondwanaland!"

Damn you people! I've stated two time previously to this that I want to do this! I'm just waiting for NeoThermic's Map Maker. :P

Do we have an ETA on the MapMaker?

As I understand it, he's quite busy just keeping the forums alive and running smoothly.

I can't speak for an ETA at all, though.

I can quite understand. :P I'll have to mess around with the files myself then - *ponders if Maple could plot the co-ordinates for me, or indeed a spreadsheet...*

You can do it with a spreadsheet, but why not just use a text editor?
