Assertion Error 753

Postby bobblewebb » Fri Jun 05, 2009 7:42 pm

Hi all, been playing defcon now for a while, well, that was until a had a major PC crash and had to replace it!!

After installing Defcon, I try to run it but get the following error...

ERROR : 'Assertion failed : 'result == 0'

..\..\contrib\systemIV\lib\resource\bitmap.cpp
line number 753'

This is also reflected in the black box report...

also, here is the debug log.

I've tried all the suggested fixes and updates humanly possible (eg, .NET framework, Active X, screen drivers, sound driver...etc, etc...) all but to no avail!
Can any peeps out there help me as I miss playing the game big time (it's the only thing that keeps me sane killing serveral million peeps! :))

Also, here is a cut down version of my DxDiag if it's any help....

Well, the error you have is the exact same one listed here, but you say you tried that fix.

I didn't see any Assertion errors that were fixed by outside parties. I have no idea.

Edit: the driver for the ATI looks a bit old, the one on ATI's site for the PCI version of yours is 02/2007.

Without further context, I'd have said an assertion in bitmap.cpp can only be caused by corrupt data. I suppose you also tried redownloading the installer?

after many hours playing about I've sussed it out!!

The drivers for the graphics card is up to date, but I'm running dual screens! you need to run defcon on the primary monitor, found it out by accident! worth bearing in mind if anybody else has the same problem!

thanks for your help guys :)
