Ahh why won't it work?!

Postby Yimi » Mon Aug 18, 2008 9:56 pm

I was playing in office mode cause i like long games and I wanted to enable the sound so i went into the sound settings and turned the mix frequency from 22KHZ to 44KHZ. That worked but I went back in after an hour and turned the number of channels up from 32 to 64. I have no idea why but, I then turned the number of channels from 64 to 8, just for fun. The game then stopped and an error popped up and said it stopped responding. I tried to restart it and when it came to the main menu it game me the "program stopped responding" error. I am running Vista but it was running fine for at least 13 hours before. I had put mods in but I took them out when it stopped working, thinking that was the problem. It wasn't. I totally removed Defcon through add & remove programs, thinking some settings were saved in the registry. Some probably were but nothing changed when I reinstalled it. It still doesn't work. I have the non-steam version.

You can check just to be sure in the preferences.txt file in you defcon directory to see what the sound settings are.

Try looking here... C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Defcon\ ?

Edit: Since it's a fresh install, there may not be a preferences.txt file.
