Can we have a video showing how most effectively to sync launch using Star of India?

Well, I've never really bothered trying to sync launch from India. There is really no need to if the whole setup is used properly. However, I'll see if I can put some time into this as there may be situations where it would be helpful. Also, sync launching from a non-standard formation is heavily dependent on where your targets are. With the Star, your targets may be on two different sides of the launch, making it doubly difficult to get right.

I'm not entirely sure, but Sao Paulo might get a split launch. I'll use those anyway.

How about a blind USA sync launch vs EU and Russia, assuming neither of the latter countries has been scouted for whatever reason.

I am thinking vs a stacked silo defence centered around Scandinavia, Leningrad on default cities.

So, a small debate has started about using subs in a spread formation vs tight groups and whether or not it makes any difference. I decided to try it out myself and see. Amazingly, not much difference. However, that "not much" might be a game winner in close ones.

I apologize for the size of the screenshots. Didn't want to use thumbnails.

Note: I used all 12 subs in four scenarios:

Packed and Spread vs CPU Placed Silos
Packed and Spread vs Non-CPU Placed Silos (I used teamswitching to place for the CPU).

Here are the results:

Code: Select all

Sub Kills: | CPU: Deaths Collateral Survivors
      19.8 |       20.3    0.5       79.7    Spread Subs vs CPU
      20.7 |       20.7    0.0       79.3    Packed Subs vs CPU

      19.9 |       20.1    0.2       79.9    Spread Subs vs Non-CPU
      19.9 |       20.0    0.2       80.0    Packed Subs vs Non-CPU

So, go on using the spread sub formation, but use all 12 at the same time!

Note: Subs killed a silo in Packed Subs vs Non-CPU. The silo was not targeted (had not been scouted) and was not on a city. Bonus!

Well, I was at work and wanted a quick test. As for overkill, six per city is what I do in every game (7 for large cities like Cairo, NY, etc). So that's what I did here.
