Introversion

Found one problem... on logout of Uplink sound frezzes for 2-3 sec.

I just buyed uplink and darwinia from the introversion site (download only) and downloaded the 1.53 patch.
I installed and tested uplink and all is ok, then I installed the patch and creating a new account the games require me to verify the cd autentication
it require a code from a black card that obviously I do not have, it is not included in the download only version

What can i do

I cannot get it to work. Downloads, runs, but when I point it to the folder, the "install" button won't light up to allow me to carry through with it.
Tried manually browsing to the folder and tried typing it in. Re-installed Uplink and tried again, nothing. Put the update on desktop and also tried it in the game folder itself, but won't recognize game folder. It's in D:\Uplink on my computer

Re-download from the store, with the version on the store you should be able to install the latest patches and use it without the codes.

I downloaded from the store less than 48 hours ago, and i obtained the 1.31 linux version.

the site tell me that I have only 2 others download, so if possible i'll keep them for the unfortunate event that I lost the current data.

update:

even after a complete reinstall the problem remain, but there is a so easy workaround, if the protection is only on caracter creation and the remaining update do not mess the program, that seem a very poor protection to me.

ok, yeah, the linux version could be a bit late. I was talking about the windows version.

so no problem of release, only I cannot understand why the patch enable a mechanism not present in the initial installation?
it is not too dificult to override, trying a code after another, but it compromise the feeling of reality that happen from the begin.

Hi there..

i got Uplink (german) two or three years ago. At this time there was a bug in the game. When i tryed to transfer money from one bank to an other i cant enter the account number. There was no patch who can fix it. So i put the game away and forgot it. Now i recovered Uplink and look at this forum to get the latest patch.
I tried to install the patch 1.53, but it does not work. Then i try patch 1.52, but it also does not work.
When i have to choose the insallation path i can't click ´Install´. The button is still gray whatever i do.

Will there be special patches for the german version?
If yes, where can i find them?
How log will it takes to release the latest (german) patch ?

ok, so you think it will be easier to by the englisch version?!?
Then i have another question:

what is the difference between the englisch version and englisch steam version ?
Steam is an anti cheat system, isn´t it ?

I'm not much knowledgeable about it, but steam seem more a game distribution and playing sistem, more analogue to what ITunes is for music for example.

thanks for the answer. I have now bought an englisch version (not a steam version) of Uplink. Now I can play the hole game til the end. =:0)
I will now install the latest patch 1.53.

Nice. Works perfectly under my FreeBSD.

I have Ubuntu 6.10, Radeon 9600Pro with drivers installed, and patch 1.53, and when I try to run Uplink, it writes this, the graphic window pops up and then disappears...

Anybody can help?
