I am not entirely sure how well it works with Macs, it only works with XP/2000/Linux on the PC.  You need to make sure the server is set to irc.uplinkcorp.net .  If people are not there there is something wrong with the IRC client.  :)

MaLice my best advice is get a proper IRC client like
AthenaIRC
BitchX
ChatNet
Ircle
MacIRC
ShadowBot
ShadowIRC
Snak

with this settings
server: irc.uplinkcorp.net
port: 6667
channel: #uplink or #uplinkcorp

<edited forgot i was on a  mac thread. stupid me:biggrin:>

actually, get Ircle.   its the only mac irc i know of.

although you only get a trial for free.   after the trial, you get disconnected after 30 min.

Ive always knew about this IRC thingy, but never really tried it.
Now I did. Uplink crashes if I click on connect in IRC
and in any other client nothing works. "Server", channel and so on doesnt matter, it just stays saying "connecting", no matter how long I wait...
Any advice? Am I doin somethin wrong?

No. Do not get ircle. It's not free.
Get colloquy if you're going to get a Mac IRC client. Totally free, and totally useful.
