First, this is a commerical game, you have to pay for it.  Second that is a Mac program, I assume you are not on a Mac as you seem to not be familiar with the .sit format (used all the time on Macs).  To open it you need a specific archiving software, Stuffit for example.   You can download a demo from this very site if you want, or you can order the full version.  :)

Because the Mac full version acts as a demo until an activation code is entered. You have to pay fot this code, but it saves money for ambrosia, because they don't have to press as many disks, and make the packaging, and delivery costs, etc.

Yeah so if its cheaper for them to do it for the macs (I think the minority) why dont they do it for Windows user (majority) or Linux Users

Mac users pay the same price (or possibly more), it's just the company save on overheads. You can also buy Mac Uplink on CD. It just saves on overheads for Ambrosia

Also, Ambrosia only deal with the Mac version of Uplink. Introversion do the PC side of things...and it's nicer to have a CD anyway!

It takes a good deal of work to get a good download system in place.  Ambrosia has developed such a system (as it is a reasonably sized publisher, and is in a rather sheltered market).  For Introversion with only the single game out currently the cost to develop a secure download system would likely not be worth it.  :)

What is the deal with deleting posts recently? If you are going to delete a post at least do something so that replies are taken care of. And why in hell was that post deleted? It was about warez, but had no specifics or anything.

I think posts should be edited, not deleted.

Otherwise it makes the rest of us look insane.
