Redshirt

I've not been on these forums in years!

I've noticed a load of people asking for the Redshirt tool, and it's been damn hard to find.

Well I think I may have the solution! I've got a version of it written by Miah (aka Kyuu). You can get it here. It's a drag/drop utility, so no horrible command line switches.

There's a Win32 binary available, as well as the source code, so it should be pretty easy to port across to other platforms.

It's really handy.. but it has a flaw. It only decrypts a part of the file. Maybe it has to do with some encrypted characters being an EOF instead of asciicode^128. Or something. It just didn't work for me.

I'm having a problem figuring out what this is used for...I know it hacks uplink somehow, but how??? What do I do? I decrypted a .usr file, but it just listed a bunch of ip's...is that all this does? I thought that it hacked your values, such as money and whatnot...can someone explain this to me?

It just decrypt the files, after that, after that you have to use a Hex editor to change the value, some page on the web describe how to do it, also in some post on this very forum (see http://forums.introversion.co.uk/uplink ... hp?t=36389 for example)

( Like I stated elsewhere I won't give a step by step guide )

Under 3 hours response time is not bad in my book.

Frenchfrog, when I said this is a late response but thanks, I was referring to my own response, not yours! Sorry about that misunderstanding

You are necrobumping a topic that is nearly a decade old, demanding a tool for a game that is almost 15 years old. Are you surprised that the link does not work? Your best bet is likely to continue Googling "redshirt decoder" until you find something that works.
