No girls (trivial matter)

I have been playing Uplink for some time now only to realise that there are no female characters. When browsing through criminal/academic records... I see no evidence of females in the world of uplink. Was this accidental or are there really meant to be no women in the game thus far?

No women are hackers. Duh. That, or they're all clever enough to use pseudonyms and change their ID photos.

In short - no, there's no particular reason why there are no women. Interpret it as a dystopic portrait of the future (or, uh, 3 years time) if you'd like.

The reason why? Chris could only get permission for guys in his class to use their photos when he was making uplink.

Joking aside... The game randomly creates people when you start a new game, by matching pictures randomly with first and last names. It would have taken a bit more coding to make the game differentiate between male and female characters, so they took the easy way out: Eliminate the gender problem by making all characters male.

If any of them had female pictures, you could guarantee 100% that they were male and in their forties at least.
