Uplink Novel

Postby Ultimate Badass » Fri May 14, 2004 7:00 pm

I was sorting out my books when i noticed the Uplink case next to my Starcraft books & then it hit me. What about a Uplink novel?

A good idea?
Would you buy it if there was one?
Any ideas for a story line?

I think a good idea for the books could be:
Book 1: Following the story of a hacker that ends up working for Arunmor.
Book 2: Following the story of a hacker that ends up working for ARC.
Book 3: Following them both as they try to do the last mission for the people they are working for, and therefor end up pitted agasint each other.
(for this idea to work you would need to end the first 2 books on TBC, so it prob aint that good of a idea)

or

There could be 1 book that is all the 3 above ideas in 1 story.
(but then you couldnt go into as much detail as you only got 1 book for the story)

Or it could be a completely new story in the Uplink world.
What you think?
I know its a long shot this will happen, but no harm it talking about it :)
Disscuss, add your story ideas etc.

Take a look at http://www.uplink.co.uk/otherfiles.html, there's a load of Fan Fiction on there.

Something longer would be quite neat, I was working on a "what happened next" to the Revelation storyline a few weeks ago but work for that stalled thanks to exams...might pick it up again during the summer...

Ultimate Badass..That would be badass. Ive read all the Uplink FanFiction and would defently like something longer, id buy it in a heartbeat. As for storyline, a 'After the Revelation Events' thingy would be spiffy.

Yeah, William Gibson is the master of the cyberpunk genre. He would definitely have some good ideas for a novel.

Just what I was trying to say. I am sure we can get his address through his publisher or the Internet. Maybe someone should send him a copy of Uplink ;)

good to see people are intrested

I think Jeff Grubb would be a good author for a Uplink novel.
Hes done 2 books based on games that i know of:
Starcraft: Liberty's Crusade & Warcraft: The Last Guardain.
Both a good read

Or William Gibson as people already said :)

I only know Jeff Grubb from his novels in the Forgotten Realms series, which I am quite addicted to though lately I've been moving away from fantasy and more towards cyberpunk. He's a good author, but was by far one not of the best authors of the Forgotten Realms series.

Tad Williams might be another option.

OMG coolsi teh stole my idea! I did a bit of an after revelation storyline. I started writing some of it up as fanfiction. Various evil organisations, killer robots and an insane AI program all make an appearance... no, it's *not* Deus Ex :P
