For firewall bypassers, why don't we make it like it really is, where instead of a catch-all bypasser for a firewall, you have to buy expansions for new ports that are blocked? In addition, instead of one decrypter, have multiple companys with different encyption techniques? Just an idea...

That would make shit too complicated.

Would you want to spend money on more than one version of a program, and then on more than one variety?

Nah.  I'd pass on that one.

I mean seperate ports being a plugin to the bypassers, like Telnet for special missions

Well...
Now that I think about it, that could add a lot to the realism factor.  Its actually a good idea, so long as you didn't overdo it.

The whole point of Uplink is that it is not realistic and besides, telnet is a little boring to use. It's out of date in 2010. :)
I did defeat Epyon, on Hard Mode but I used up lots of continues. :)

Yeah, but one would ALSO think that the console would be out of date in 2010, but... ;)

The console is to delete the files on the File Server easily or to crash a system. You can't delete the system files without the console.

SACRILEDGE! Consoles will never go out of date! ATTACK! ATTACK! KILL THE HERETIC!

No, seriously, come 2030 the sysadmin's best friend will still be the console. Or maybe that version of Doom that was hooked up to the process list.

I don't think the console will ever go out of style.

It's quick, efficient, and lets you get right to working without and fubbering around =)

Back on topic, new bypassers would be good, but there would have to be new ways of implementing them. (Think VDPIN). A bunch of "click and drag to activate" bypassers really wouldn't be a terribly exciting or innovative addition.

Thanks for the dues ex count down, but is it not put back by several centuries.  Consoles a singley the most useful tool ever, and the bypasser idea is great as uplink starts to get amazingly easy after the millienth time playing.

For all the different program, you can get those for free by hacking. Or the du**a** way, buy it at incredible price.
