uplink is an excellent game, but its way to short - after i robbed my first bank i bought grade A software a hardware, and i could hack any thing in 5 seconds, in the next version of uplink (if there is one, and i hope there is) they should add more mission types so even if you a mage and you have the best software in the game it oculd still be difficult o complete certain high level missions, like involving goverment mainframes and destroying entire companies. i agree that LANS are more difficult that standard servers but after you get used to them they are as easy as the rest.
I rock, and let no one tell u otherwise! :P

Make uplink more difficult! buy cheepo equipment, then hack high level systems. When that is no fun, shrink your bounce path, and keep shrinking it until it is very short.

yes, but when you are trying to do it on the grade one gateway, with only 30 seconds, it is virtually impossible, and fund to see how quick you can do it. My record to hack the GCD with an alpha gateway on 60G/dz/s is 90 secs, try and beat it.

Why not just not bother bank-hacking? Relying completely on missions for income means you follow a much shallower upgrade path.

Also, playing without bypassers (at least on non-LAN systems) might be interesting. I'll have to try that next time...

Try hacking a lan using only lan force. That is hard

Yeah. The only real reason you should hack a bank is if you're trying to buy the A.W.O.L. Overkill. I think someone suggested this before, but here it is anyway: If you're really bored, try seeing how close to being traced you can get without being caught. The guy who suggested this had a record of 0 seconds. (According to him, it stayed there for 4 seconds before he disconnected.)

I like opening a new bank account, and every time I do a destroy somebody mission, I take all their money and put it in that account.  I don't use the money, but I keep track of it; I was up to around 10 mil, before I forgot the voice print, and got nailed.

I think he didn't run the Motion Sensor because the time will go to the normal state if it turns red.
I did defeat Epyon, on Hard Mode but I used up lots of continues. :)

How about switching out the 60GHz processor in the Alpha for a 20GHz?  If you can do that, heh, that'd be interesting.

If it wasn't on the first or second page I wouldn't have even opened it.  But, I dunno.

Anyhoot, sorry.  Though I think the drama was a bit unnecessary; a simple "duh" note would have sufficed.
