Just a thought but maybe if you made the other agents a little more real? Like where you could perhaps e-mail them something and they answer back, like share programs or something. And if you could perhaps sell your programs when your updating them, get some money back type of thing?
Oh and when other agents are jailed if you could get them out, coz i went to the criminal database and cleared their records but their still in. But definately a TOP game.
Idea?

Hey, that's a great idea. It would also be pretty cool if other Uplink agents changed their attitudes towards you as the games goes on. For example, if you get them out of jail, they would be more likely to do a good turn for you in the future.
Unfortunately no-one can tell you what the Marix is; you have to see it for yourself.
How da hell do you get them out of jail? It doesn't make sence.
Police 1: "You are now free to go, we looked at your record and it's empty"
Police 2: "But he just got convicted, all the evidense was there"
Police 1: "Well, his criminal record is empty today, so he's free"
Police 2: "But we had the clerk put it in just a week ago"
Police 1: "Look, the database is empty, and all the logs are missing, so he's free"

A little improvement from your ideas controlfreak:
You CAN release Uplink agents from jail, but who would issue that mission? I mean, companies hate them.
I would say that you can trade in an old version and upgrade it to a new version (Like, this program 1.0 which costs 1000 can be traded in for a program 2.0 for 5000, assuming that program 2.0 was originally priced at 15000. Selling programs is definitely impossible; you can make profits from copying programs and re-sell them forever.
In order for other agents to reply, they would need artificial intelligence. Advanced, even. I mean, they can't exactly understand every word you say.
"Yo, wazzap dawg?"
is something they won't understand.
