What would be really cool is if you had your own test system (buy it for the price of a cheep gateway or something).  So, without making a connection you can get your own console and run programs on it, try breaking new security, and watch thier effects.  I mean what hacker/cracker doesn't own at least 5 old machines that they work on and play with.  I know they uplink test machine is kinda like this, but it would be fun to have your own you could customize and not worry about time on.

Nothing I do anything with is floating around my house.

Whats in my house-

My word processing/printing machine (K6-2 300 mhz)
My GAME server (800 mhz 640 megs RAM)
My GAME computer (stress on GAME)
My CD-player mac.
An old 386 laptop.
An old P100 I'm outfitting for an SMTP server... but that one wont be around for long.

Anything else is remote (another laptop in a carry bag w/ Linux on it is all the hack-esq stuff I keep on me). Its just smart. I want to live in a place where they cant search and find stuff.

Uh...

I always wanted to berry a hard drive deep underground and then have a cable through the house to a computer. So if I ever go searched by the police they would either not find it or have to dig up the entire house to get to the hard drive, by which time I would have hidden it.

Foolish plan.

How are you going to move a hard drive thats buried under so much dirt?

Here's a simpler plan-

You want something secure, you put it on disc or hard drive and stick it in a safe deposit box under a false name.

Here's an even simpler plan:

Don't do things that would make th police want to search your house.

(Such as my tens of thousands of dollars worth of warez.)

C'mon, police.. You mean Federal Agents. Where's the glamour in being taken down by the local police? Sheesh, style and class!

Yeah, instead you can be taken down by the USAF, DOD CERT, FBI, CIA, NSA, and US Army Intel all at once!

Imagine that...

I certainly wouldn't want the USAF searching my house.  Not if they brought their 'planes with them, anyway.  Not that they'd be able to find much.

The AF controlls a lot of the nuclear response stuff and network stuff (my gemoetry teacher spent most of his life building firewalls for the USAF), the Air Force Security Forces (something like that) has covert arms much like the CIA.

But you could argue that the CIA and FBI are more civillian spook stuff, FBI being concerned with matters of domestic crime and terrorism, and the CIA being concerned with matters abroad, other branches of the governemt concerns itself with domestic military violations.
