I am wondering about the story line... (possible spoiler)

I didn't see a post for this and I don't really want to read through the entire forum trying to find the answer to this question: Can you skip the storyline mission or not? I just want to be certain that the answer that I think is true is the correct one. Thanks!!!

You don't have to follow the storyline. However, I believe that as a result of avoiding the storyline your game will end due to various circumstances which you normally prevent as part of the story - whereas if you complete the storyline on the right side you can play on indefinitely.

Dangit The only problem that I have is that I cant really move fast enough, I think, for the last mission where you are trying to beat revelation and stop it from spreading.

But had another question of mine answered Read the posts but never really had a clear idea of whether or not you could actually play forever if you beat the spreading of Revelation. Sounds awesome that you can, though!!!
