When does the storyline start?

I was just wondering when the storyline starts? do I have to do it manually, or does it "come to me"?

it starts on may (or was it?) 9, when on the news says that the top uplink agent found dead bla bla bla. Then, you can hack the ARC Mainframe and find through the logs Revelation Core v0.7 and ARC'll contact you.

Other way is to wait 7 days after the dood is dead, get the @-mail from him, go to ARC Mainframe, try the password and wait.
