More to the point - if someone had a registered copy of uplink at one time, and the new Debian64 install find games in the .uplink folder on disk, the initial screen does not properly populate the various interface buttons, including the exit button.
Fairly serious, because I was unable to exit via any means (alt tab, et al) and finally had to hard reset the computer. Not devastating because just renaming/deleting ~/.uplink fixes it.
