The Screen Size Is Too Small

Hello,

I just got uplink in the HumbleBundle and I keep getting "The Screen size is too small" error. My tablet is 7", I can see the game loading in the background with sound/animation all working.

I'm using the Scroll Excel tablet: http://www.storageoptions.com/products/scroll/tablets/scroll-excel

The specs state it has a resolution of 800 x 480 is that an issue? or should it work on this tablet?

I too am having this issue and according to the Humble Bundle support information we need a 480px minimum screen size.

My tablet is 7" and runs at 800x480 much like Wully's tablet. I can even run SpaceChem at that resolution quite well despite its minimum requirements being 1280x800.

I'm running Android 4.0.3 on an Iview 760TPC in case that's relevant to this issue.

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

Edit: Ha! It looks like our two tablets are the same exact model just different branding.

Good to know its not just me that's having this issue, our tablets are just re-brands of Allwinner A10 tablets.

I'll also note I'm running Android 4.0.3

Hi folks,

While the screen height requirement is 480px, there's another hard requirement of 500,000 px total on a screen for Uplink to run. Since it looks like there are tablets out there with a height of 480px which do not reach the 500,000 px benchmark, we'll look into removing the total pixel requirement. Stay tuned, and thanks for your patience.

Edit: Originally said 5000 px when I actually meant 500,000.

Thanks for the reply :)

Hopefully it can be fixed, I love this game!

Hi all,

We looked into reducing or dropping the 500,000 total pixel requirement for Uplink, and it turns out that doing this would mean that the game would be played at resolutions too low to show all of the text and images properly. We will not be changing this requirement. This means that 800x480px and 1024x480px tablets will not be able to play Uplink. The Humble Bundle FAQ will be updated to reflect this information. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi, i know that uplink isnt playable with screens with a resolution of 800x480...
But i have a 800x480 running at a lower dpi wich is 160
When i start uplink i get the note that i cant run it, but i can see the start of the game
In the back (where the 2 computers connect and you get the welcome note)
And that just looks perfect!!!!! No resolution problems i would say....

So please please please open uplink to make it playable with devices with lower dpi settings

Thx sajam

Hi Sajam,

Even though the screen might show Uplink running in the background and it might look ok at first glance, there would end up being graphical distortions due to the low resolution. Because Uplink has so much fine detail, especially when it comes to the large quantities of small text, this would make the game unplayable. We will not be changing the resolution requirement at this time.
