Trouble installing Uplink on Linux!

Postby kogo50 » Sat Oct 02, 2010 11:05 pm

I'm trying to install Uplink on Linux and the readme says to unzip the uplink file in the Linux folder and I did. Then I ran it but it says "./uplink: error while loading shared libraries: libglut.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" which I'm guesting it means that it can't find a or open a certain file. I notice that the are mostly dat file except for the readme and the program. Most of the dat files like the fonts.dat I'm able to access but 2 of the dat files, the data.dat and the world.dat file I can't access and the icon for them are different that the others. Can this be what is causing my problem and if so how can I fix it?

Disheartening to see a support question going unanswered for this long.

Assuming Ubuntu or another Debian-based Linux, this should suffice;

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install libglut3

Essentially, it seems like you don't have libglut installed (properly), so go ahead and try that.

well, I know this post is very old and should not answer it, but it happens that I found the source of the problem is that to run the game must be from console in root mode, now the sound is not heard and does not take the update
