1) why isn't Introversion getting the royalties from their US sales?
2) is it illegal to purchase the game from ambrosia?
3) is uplink: hacker elite different than Uplink? if so, how many different game versions are there?
1) Because Strategy First are bankrupt and the US has some weird thing whereby if you're bankrupt, you can still trade and generate income, but don't have to pay money out
2) No
3) Hacker Elite was added for the Americans who don't like products with names that are only 1 word long

There are lots of people here selling the game.In fact, they sell it for the price of a pizza...They don't deliver it though, they don't have a website or sometihng, you just know where those people live and go to them and buy any game you want. They are...local merchants And while they just write it on a cd, there are whole shops where games are sold in boxes with manual and everything, for incredibly small amount of money...The situation is terrible. We only have one or two legal representatives of key publishers here, and they don't bring every game but just best-sellers.The rest is total piracy. And now, with torrents and free-servers, people don't even pay for their pirate games - they don't have the feeling they should pay for other people's hard work! They get what they want, and they delete it when they don't really like the first few minutes from it...That's the gaming culture around here...And there's no way it's going to change soon, because a single PS2 game here costs half of a teacher's sallary.
There seems to be a really big one passing Uplink around on the net, called GameTap. It's a subscription service that let's you play several older games on your computer, and Uplink is listed under it's list of titles, under the flag of Strategy First. Here's a link: http://www.gametap.com/home/game_titles/index.jsp
