in case you do, DO NOT make the mistake to hire
several, independent(!) translator for one language!
that could result in different translations of the
same phrase, which can be very good if you have a long
text, say, a dissertation, but is a big annoyance in
a game with small text boxes. e.g. you can translate
"log-file" as 'Protokoll-Datei' or 'Log-Datei' or
'Zugangs-Kontroll-Liste' or similar, and coming to the
conclusion that these are the same can become tedious
work. (i know it might be a bad example, you get the message? imagine two separate references. one telling you
to take care of the 'admin-log', the other urging you to
delete the 'system-access-list'. finding one is easy, realizing they're the same can cost precious time.) just
reading a translated SF book in german which is very bad,
hence the panic.
...
uhm, in case i don't make sense to you above and you are looking for enthusiastic amateur translators english-german
anyway, me, me, me, me... ;-))) *broad-smile*

That isnt the problem!

I think: Uplink for Linux is a grate step to an real home system - Linux for Desktop. The problem is (IMHO) that gamers in other countries dont love that game, because there are dont familar with english... I like to make a quick game , not to learn a book first.
I think it is better to put the text out of the code -> in a File. So one gamer can translate it for other gamers, you now ... Linux style :).
