Screen goes black when I play I can hear the game.

The black screen says 2: Analog Input Cannot Display This Video Mode Optimum Resolution 1280 x 1024 60hz. I can hear the game in the backround I have to hard reset my computer every time I have tried running the game in 640 x480 and reduced colour mode and I disabled display scaling on high DPI settings.PLEASE HELP. Im on windows 8
