http://www.thenextgame.co.uk/guide.php

Everything that you need is there. If you can't find the answer to a specific question there, feel free to post to the boards, or ask on IRC ( irc.uplinkcorp.com #darwinia ).

You need Darwinia to create maps, and a text editor to fine tune the levels, create scripts, &c. What more do you want?

martin: stop pimping your mod at every single possible opportunity.

Read the guides at http://thenextgame.co.uk . Read through the tutorials that TGF wrote. Read nihil's modding guide (linked from Icepick's site). If you have a specific question, post here. Really, that is all you need. Darwinia is not that hard to mod. You just have to get used to the quirks of the system.

Not hard? Pfff... the commands and locationnames and whatnot blow my mind. (Maybe because I'm only thirteen...) Otherwise, however, I would be making some mods of my own. Perhaps a better word would be simple. The commands are simple, but the way they are used together is as of yet beyond me. (Perhaps I should take some tips from the coding of Insurrection.)

Good luck on your project, however!

I would suggest taking apart TheDeserts, because before that I had no idea how to script darwinia - so I imagine the code may be written in a simpler fashion than mods like insurrection where Xander actualy had a clue ;)

indeed, that's the one - it was the first thing I ever scripted, so while some is probably a bit badly written it's all simple stuff.
