Transparancy?

What color is used for transparent in picture files? It seems that sometimes it's that purple-ish color and other times its black.

Just check the original file, and see which it uses. That's what I do.

...Sorry, I think that's hardcoded into the .exe - I've changed the logo itself, but couldn't find a way to change the 'DARWINIA' text that appears beneath it (unless I missed it completely somewhere).

Actually I failed paying attention, sicne I can't say I've ever particularly noticed the DARWINIA that appears below it, I just skip past.
