Acceptable mod download size?

My mod is starting to get quite large in size due to all the extra sounds and music I have. The sound for 2 levels at the moment weighs in at a massive 14Mb. I`ve compressed all the sound with ogg.

Also I have a bit of a gripe as I`m using chip tunes and have to record them to ogg. For example an original chip tune in stereo at 10minutes long is only 7.12kb. Whereas the smallest ogg I can get is 5.50Mb in mono. Shouldn`t there be a way of playing chip tunes directly? Doesn`t darwinia use a chip tune player for some boot loader?

Would be good if we could use .sid .xm tunes as well as ogg vorbis in our mods.

Acceptable is infinite but the smaller the better, GL useing chiptunes though
