Segault with Gentoo, SDL 1.2.9 the problem?

Postby aminalshmu » Sat Sep 10, 2005 2:00 pm

Code: Select all

jordan@jordan jordan $ darwinia-demo
/opt/darwinia-demo
SDL Version: Compiled against 1.2.8, running with 1.2.8
/opt/darwinia-demo/darwinia: line 39: 31302 Segmentation fault      $here/lib/darwinia.bin.x86
jordan@jordan jordan $ sudo emerge -av libsdl

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild   R   ] media-libs/libsdl-1.2.9  +X -aalib +alsa -arts -dga -directfb -esd -fbcon -ggi -libcaca -nas -noaudio -noflagstrip -nojoystick -novideo +opengl +oss +pic -svga -xinerama +xv 0 kB

is this the explanation? and should i revert to 1.2.8? or is it very possible that something else is going on here?

Darwinia is shipped with its own libsdl, so it shouldn't be a problem; was a blackbox.txt created in $PWD, and if so, can you paste it here?

I had, very recently, problems running the demo because i was without 3D hardware acceleration without knowing it.

Do you have correct drivers installed? Like the nVidia or Ati closed source ones?

The demo is distributed with SDL 1.2.8. In order to narrow down the problem, could you please try to run it with gdb and post the back-trace of the crash here?

Code: Select all

$ gdb /opt/darwinia-demo/darwinia/lib/darwinia.bin.x86
(gdb) set logging on
(gdb) run

When it crashes, do:

Code: Select all

(gdb) thread apply all bt

And then post the contents of gdb.txt here. Thanks.
