changing screen and graphics isn't permanent

For some reason, when I change graphics and screen options (I want non-windowed at 1024x768) they are not permanent.

Every time I apply the preferences and restart the game, it comes up as 800x600 windowed. The preferences.txt file is currently set to 1024x768 windowed=0, but it seems to ignore that.

Where else could these settings be written to?

Have a look in ~/.darwinia/*/preferences.txt
Try experimenting with values for ScreenColourDepth (32, 24, 16).
