Various Windowed Mode Issues

Postby googleshng » Mon Dec 27, 2004 5:44 am

First, when running in windowed mode, the Darwinia window still has dimensions equal to the current resolution. Adding the title bar of that window in, along with the program's menu bar, crops off the bottom of the screen.

Additionally, starting the game in windowed mode auto-centers the mouse, making it impossible to do any of the things one might switch to windowed mode with the intent of doing.

The quick and easy fix to the latter issue (as used by almost all games which use mouse position to control the camera) would just be to keep the game in full screen mode by default, simplify the controls for toggling back and forth, auto-locking the camera position when windowed. Less convenient for anyone who'd actually prefer to run in a small window, but the controls and gameplay are ill suited to it to begin with.

When windowed, I believe you can alt-tab out, as well as keep some windows onscreen to monitor things. That works pretty well, I think.
