Possible Fix for Slow Performance - Low FPS

Just wanted to post this since I didn't see this anywhere I looked but, I think I found something that might help at least some of you.
My computer was running at <10FPS even though I have a 2.2 Quad Core w/ 4 gigs of memory and an ATI x800 video card. I tried EVERYTHING I could to get the FPS higher since I know my computer is not the issue. I finally decide to check ALL the menus and found one setting that fixed everything:
***Go to the SOUND OPTIONS and at least change the MEMORY USAGE. I also had to reduce the Mix Frequency and Num Channels.
After I did this I was sailing. Odd that the sound takes up so much of the performance but, I guess that's just the way it is. I hope this helps at least some of you. Peace
