Thanks for your help, everyone, but at this point, I'm just giving up.
Honestly, I bought the Humble Bundle to re-experience Darwinia, a game I really enjoyed, but my time is more important than trying to troubleshoot a game I only paid $5 for.
I am going to try the other games I got through the Introversion Humble Bundle when I get around to it, but with this experience, my hopes aren't high.
