Why does the sound crackle so much on this game? With the sounds no so much but the music sometimes sounds like some dude was balling up a potato chip bag in the recording studio. Different sound settings don't work, and I know it's not me because I hear it in youtube videos, and no other games or songs do this.

How do I fix this? I want to hear the beautiful music in this game without having to hear some idiot walking on tinfoil every 5 seconds.

I don't know what crackling sound you are talking about, but the sound in Darwinia is meant to sound relatively low-fi. Some amount of crackling is intentional. If you are hearing it in youtube videos, then it is almost certainly intentional.
