Can run Darwinia but can't play it

Postby Gaweg » Tue Jan 15, 2008 8:17 pm

Hi,

If I start up the demo of Darwinia I get a cursor with a red line trough it and tho I can move around and bring up the menu with Esc there is nothing else I can do.
I have downloaded and installed the update and my grapich controller is: Intel(R) 82865G. I haven't updated windows yet because I don't know how to do it.

Can this bug be fixed or is my computer just not good enough? And if I buy the whole game will it run then?

Perhaps simply not good enough.

Perhaps, but I wouldn't count on it. (Latest patches use Directx instead of OpenGL but are much more demanding on hardware resources)

Care to post a dxdiag report?

1)'Start' windows button
2)'Run ...' or the search bar in Vista
3)Type 'dxdiag.exe' in the 'Open' textbox and press the 'Ok' button
4)Once the 'dxdiag.exe' dialog is up, click the 'Save All Information ...' button.
5)Choose a destination for the file (ie: your desktop) and a name for the file (ie: 'dxdiag_info.txt')
6)Post the content of the file here.

Windows XP 5.1, build 2600P
systemmodel: Dimension 3000
BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS Plus version 1.10 A02
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1022MB RAM

Not much information here...

Try Intel Support site, if it doesn't work, it seems you are out of luck.

you're using onboard video, that's your problem

just because darwinia has simple gfx doesn't mean that it is easy to render

50-100 bucks you can get a decent dx9 card, check newegg.com

Lots of onboard cards can run Darwinia adequately
