Are you trying to set a resolution that your graphics card cannot handle? What happens if you quit Darwinia, and change the resolution manually in preferences.txt? Do you get any kind of error message before it reboots? What version of Windows are you using? Which version of Darwinia (the "newest patch" is not that helpful -- what version number?)?

I have Windows XP Pro. Service Pack 2
A8N-32 Mobo
AMD X2 3800+
2 Gig. Cosair Ram
7800 GT
19 widescreen Native 1400x900
I try to set it to my native or even any resolution thats there and it reboots.
I don't have it set to restart when changed resolution.
I haven't tried to change anything in Preference.txt. anyone have a step by step for this?
again thx inadvance

1) Find and open "preferences.txt".
Code: Select all
Using the Steam version: \Valve\Steam\SteamApps\[user]\darwinia\preferences.txt
For Windows: \Program Files\Darwinia\preferences.txt
For Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Darwinia/full/preferences.txt
For Linux: ~/.darwinia/preferences.txt
2) Change the following lines:
Code: Select all
ScreenWidth = [XXX]
ScreenHeight = [YYY]
3) Save the file and restart Darwinia.
You may also try windowed mode, and see what happens:
Code: Select all
ScreenWindowed = 1
One more thing: someone is going to have to remind me how exacly this is done, but, if I recall correctly, Windows, by default, will restart on a BSOD. Is it possible that it is BSODing more quickly than you can notice, then restarting? It is possible to change that behaviour, though I don't remember exactly how.

Right click on 'My Computer', or go to 'Control Panel', 'System'.
Click on the 'Advanced' tab.
Click Settings under 'Startup and Recovery'.
Uncheck the 'Automatically Restart' box.
Click 'OK'.
