reflective water eating FPS alive

Postby Oberon » Sat Jan 12, 2008 8:02 pm

I'd just like to point out that the recent patch has reflective water. I think it's the vista patch, right? I don't have vista.... Is there a way to go back to the pre-vista Darwinia? the FPS is like, 5-16 instead of it's usual 30-50.

You can download patch v1.3, that's the one I use. I like it because it still lets me press alt+tab without minimizing.

You can turn that effect off, I believe. While I don't have the Vista version, I did beta test 1.5 last year, and, if I recall correctly, you can turn off that by turning off the Pixel Effect in the option menu.

Setting Pixel Effect to Partial sets it so only the effects found in pre-Vista patch are used. You lose explosion and soul effects, but those are lost by using an older patch anyway.
