Major graphic issues

I'm trying to play the demo from Steam.

After installing it and running the game, The game starts up with lots of patterns and broken lines - the game jumps with a vertical sync issue, and fonts/textures are strewn all about. What's going on? I'm using up to date drivers for my card...

I just ran an openGL test, this appears to be a problem with OpenGL games. I still don't know where to go from here though =(

The game is incredibly choppy and tearing.

If it's a general problem with OpenGL, try different driver versions, starting with the most recent and also trying the very first driver that supported your card, presumably the one that came with the card on a CD.

About the tearing, there's supposed to be a VSync switch in your control panel somewhere. Flip it :) (To 'always on', presumably)

It's possible he has Windows 7, in which case different drivers won't help.

Nope, Windows XP SP2 and most up to date drivers.

You're suggesting *downgrading* drivers?

Downgrading drivers help if there are issues with the latest set.

Try updating to SP3 as well. It can't hurt.
