Can't join games (sync error)

Postby liq3 » Tue Oct 28, 2008 9:52 am

I can't join games. Whevener I do I get a sync error. I can host though...kind of.

I know why I get sync errors everytime. I have a nVidia FX5200, thus I'm one of the people who get horrible (<10) FPS in the menu. It also does the speed up at start of game thing.

I'm posting this in the hopes the devs will notice, and fix the menu so it works on the 5x00 series cards.

I'd rather like to play their game. :(

Try to play a game or two on the server called "Dedwinia Test". It keeps detailed network logs, maybe we can find out what's wrong with those sync errors. (Specifically Dedwinia Test. The other dedicated servers up right now don't keep full logs.)

Ok, this is strange. I changed my resolution from 1024x768 to 640x480, and lowered all the settings in "Screen options", and now the snyc error is gone. I still get 12 FPS in the menu though.

P.S. Nvm, I just joined a non-ded server and got a sync error again.

Not strange at all.

If the sync error is caused by a low frame rate (which I think it is, because I can reproduce it if I start compressing files with WinRar at the same time), then having a lower resolution will increase the frame rate.

Can you try playing on Dedwinia Test some more? The cause for the connection error you used to be getting has been identified and should be removed now.
