Some effects go wrong with Soulrain effect

I found this setting causes some weird thing(around laser blows and grenades' blasts), as follows:

That's what you get for using unsupported "features." ;)

That being said, I am sure that I have seen this before -- just after Darwinia came out, I seem to recall that certain video cards had this problem with most lights in a level (i.e. das blinkenlights on control towers). I wonder if there is a connection?
