Yeah, that's what I was warning you in the other thread. In principle, the two versions are compatible, and if you play over the internet, the matchmaking server knows the versions are compatible and lets them play together. If you're on the same LAN and don't do anything special (like, for example, the launch-the-windows-version-twice thing, you can use the regular demo for the first instance you only open to shut it down, I think you can't start the steam version twice), the two versions think they're incompatible.

Ah I diddnt realize it was just because of the versions I thought it would just be a translation issue, someone should look over the packet headers! I was just surprised because I had 2 Win7 Users join me (Win7) and a OSX all on local no problem at my school when when I came home I tired it and it didn't work.

At least steam allows you to run more then one instance of the game I cant run more then 1 of most games even not their titles for example
Counter Strike Source + 1.6 (wont launch more then 1 title while the other one is running)
Battlefield bad company 2 + Counter Strike Soruce (wont launch more then 1 title while the other one is running)
Multiwinia + Multiwinia = WIN / Allowing lame OSX compatability
