Can't see games anymore

Postby MasterBoo » Wed Oct 08, 2008 2:01 pm

Well, compared to the lots f games in the first week, these days I can see no more than 3-4 games, and half of them are beta-testing games. I wasn't able to play because of this for a week (having to wait for joinable game to pop up isn't fun).

I know one reason is the fix for the single player games, but come on... less than 4 games?

Yes, I was surprised by the sudden decrease in server numbers as well. Right away I realized some people just like playing Singleplayer. Not very friendly ones.

I got tired of winning, and then I forgot how.

During "prime time" there are enough players to easily start or join 3 or 4 player games, 2 player games are almost instant. Also, at the end of the game, you should chat to ask if people are interested in another game. I've hosted a bunch of great games with the same 2-3 other players in a row. Just make sure who's hosting and ask if anyone has any requests for gametypes. Don't forget to learn how to setup your router too, so people can actually join.

Prime Time - I think most players are around the UK GMT Timezone. I'm in North America, but I do notice a bump of players for those time zones too. I've had good luck around the North America Fri and Sat evenings and nights. Also, I think there's a bump of players in the evening during UK hours too.

Oh also, when I'm hosting a 3 or 4 player game and waiting for people to join, I switch my name to "5MinsTillStart", and every minute I decrement my name. Players are usually willing to wait if they know how long they will have to wait for. If not, change your name to a message to "chat".. Obviously this will be so much easier once we have lobby chat.

Still sucks one way or another that either not enough people who bought the game or are still interested for there to be one or two people on during whenever.

I'm in Australia (+10 hr GMT), and I am hopefully going to a lan party on saturday night where I intend to play multiwinia online for the second time EVER. When exactly is this prime time you speak of?

I often leave rooms open and browse the web, like I'm doing right now (with enough of the game still visible in the background to see when someone joins).

I'm actually looking forward to the 360 version just for the matchmaking. And maybe more people will be playing that one, at least at first.

Two games played before I could finish typing this :)

I've been busy with school, and the time I get to play I don't feel like waiting 10-15 minutes for enough people to join so I play a couple of games against the CPU instead. I'm sure others are in the same boat.

Plus midterms are comin' up for some of us.

Will the 360 version be able to play with the PC version?

Nah, the PC version would already be using LIVE for online play if they were going to do cross-platform play.

Plus, I'd hate to be using a controller against a mouser! I like playing with a controller as much as anyone, but I know I'm going to be a slower with the orders on the 360. Which is fine with me if everyone else is in the same boat :) I'm looking forward to relaxing in the home theater with this on the big screen...

Again, a game on the Xbox360 doesn't need to use LIVE to have multiplayer. Ergo it's perfectly feasible for the 360 version to play the PC version if the metaserver handles both.

Are you sure about that?

I'm pretty certain the opposite is true.
