Yep! Every Introversion game is like this. :)

These would be cool to have. The first because it shows, like the procedural generation, the world is constantly in motion and alive. The second because it would probably be a good idea to have maybe a training complex for you to fiddle about with.

LoL
That would be hilarious...
Variation 1:
*Runs into bank.*
*Begins robbing bank.*
*Another team of robbers runs in.*
*Shoot-out commences.*
*Cameo appearance of Al Pacino.*
*Police arrive.*
*Nothing living is found within the bank.*

Variation 2:
*Runs into bank.*
*Begins robbing bank.*
*Tow-truck drives by, tows getaway vehicle for illegal parking.*
*Runs outside.*
*Where'd the van go?*
*Stands there looking stupid until police arrive.*

I'd love to be able to save the city as a render or a series of image. It would be awesome to be able to use those city plans for other uses. Apart from the game, wich looks great and full of possibilites (like snipers in adjacent buildings, or need a hacker in place in the city, or some engineer cutting out the power of the building, or a comunications specialist disrupting a police call), I'd love to be able to save plans for the buildings, screenshots, renders, etc., for other uses.

For example, in roleplaying. It would be awesome to generate a whole living city with it's buildings without spending hours in AutoCAD for a single building, and be able to actually show where are we playing. I know, I know, it's pretty nerd, but that city generator is just plain awesome, so many uses in the horizon.

Yes, I like that too

If Subversion can also be used to make a living city, this would be great
And even when you can define your own stuff etc.

I have some examples of city generators
Some of them - like Blender - can export in 3d format.

So not only a picture but you can import it in other 3d tools.
But Blender has a steep learning curve to me.

Besides Subversion as a game, I think Subversion as some kind of (city) generation / simulation tool can be huge
I hope Introversion will realize this opportunity

I want to be in Subversion!

I know a lot of people here talk about how they want this game to be really immersive. Now call me crazy, but as much as I want immersion, I really would like it if I was in the game. When I was playing Uplink I always thought it would be funny if my friends or myself showed up while hacking some database. As for subversion, I think it would be cool if IV had some sort of form, some sort of personality test, that I could fill in. Then I attach a picture and send it back to IV. Then Subversion would have it so that I am somewhere in the generated city of peoples games. They wouldn't really know if it was a randomly generated thing, or a fan of IV. But if I play a game, maybe I would run into David the accountant. I think he would be the guy that talks too much, probably an easy target for some social engineering.

Just a thought...

Also, Im pretty sure I would pay a few £ for this to happen. Say I paid £20 to be in the game. Maybe this would give me £1 rebate when the game is released... don't really care. More of a trivia thing that might help get this game released.

Good luck with the development!

That is actually a pretty good idea, in a way. :)

I think a good idea would be player designed vaults or security systems. This could be a mini-game or could be represented by contracts in a game. Say a bank offers you a contract to design their security system. They have a budget of £100k and certain components cost so much (bank vault door £10k, each sensor £1k, actuators £500 etc. etc.) and you have to design their security system. This could then be incorporated into the game. If say a player makes a security system it gets uploaded onto a database at IV and then used in other players' games. If they are very hard to bypass they get a star rating (i.e. 10 stars is very hard, 5 stars average, 1 star almost useless). Then certain places in the city would require different star ratings (a small bank maybe 3*'s a large important one 8* government buildings 10*).

This is great for two reasons... first its a competition for players, I mean you could create leaderboards for different price ranges or floor/room shapes etc. etc. Also it means that IV doesn't have to build every single layout. Obviously they need a few but then the community can contribute as well.

Again you could make it into a mini-game. I love the idea of a persistient team but some people might just want to play a scenario based game. In which case player uploaded security systems are an easy scenario based way to play.

Just my two pence (because im british and proud of it :D)

IV would have to design a proper banking simulator, tho. It's easy to make a maximum security building (just concrete walls everywhere or whatever) if you don't have to consider how easily the legitimate customers and employees can move around and do their business.

It's like in Dwarf Fortress or Sims... The best looking layouts are designed around people actually using the area for a purpose.

Well all you would have to do is make a minimum limit on the number of cashiers or ATM's. Then all that has to be done is check that NPC can reach the cashiers or ATM's ... just path checking.

And thanks to your quoting, I don't have to feel bad about deleting the original post! Otherwise I'd have to yell at you.

It's typical class-book spycode. It's the way spies communicate with each other. IV-forums have become spy infested!!!

Why not just use an encrypted channel?
