Surely?

Hopefully its something with some strategic elements in it, and don't call me Shirley.

I just bought the introversion bundle, I'm having a lot of fun with, love it all, but (yes there's a but sorry) the city generator doesn't work for me.
I always fails after the roads are traced and while buildings start to raise from the ground. I have windows 7.
The city generator is a just a bonus and I'm having so much fun with everything else it doesn't really matter but if there's an easy fix it'd like to play with it a little because it looks amazing.

WARNING -- CITY BUILDER TECH DEMO CONTAINS OFFENSIVE IMAGERY, NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN !!
I too bought the Introversion Humble Bundle. I found the City Builder tech demo and thought it looked interesting enough to give it a spin. I was in for quite the shock when I discovered an offensive cartoon image covering the side of one of the otherwise nondescript buildings, as I floated through the cityscape.

I registered on this forum for the sole purpose of posting this warning. I don't yet notice a way that I can post the image here, if I can figure out how to do that I might try to. However, given that the image is offense, it might be better if anyone is interested in seeing it to just PM me (possible here?) or reply to the post, which should notify me as well.

The cartoon is borderline pornographic and also depicts graphic violence. It includes the text "2 of 5", suggesting there are other such images to be found within the software. As an adult, the image itself isn't what offends me, but rather that it was completely unexpected; there was no warning that I could find on either Humble Bundle or on this forum post that the Humble Bundle page linked to. I was unable to find any age recommendation on the Introversion main site for the handful of games they advertise there. The best I could find is on GOG.com, the ESRB ratings for the few of their games that had such ratings were either E for Everyone, or T for Teen. I don't necessarily expect this City Builder tech demo to have an ESRB rating, but it would have been proper to adequately warn people that this content was present. This sort of thing is very important to me as a parent who tries to play an active role in making sure my kids are exposed to age appropriate material.

I'm not sure if Introversion disclosed this content to Humble Bundle when the bundle deal was struck. I have also provided feedback to Humble Bundle so that they may take whatever action they see fit.

For the life of me, I can't understand why Introversion thought it appropriate to include such images within this software. It boggles the mind. One of my kids (or any child for that matter) could have just as easily encountered this image. I'm glad it was me and not them.

You have been warned.

Thanks.

It was part of an ARG. http://www.pcgamer.com/prison-architect ... new-image/

I'm not sure what to tell you... I've never thought of it in that context.

Never knew about that. Learn something everyday.

Shagmonster, in case you're still confused, those are Polaroids that appear within the game Prison Architect. Five of them were secretly hidden within the city builder tech demo as part of a treasure hunt. You can find some other Polaroids and information on the Prison Architect developer wiki here:
http://devwiki.introversion.co.uk/pa/in ... ed_content

Or you can view some of the Polaroids from the game by doing a Google Search.

And you can also go into the game's files and find the Polaroids there as well (if you own Prison Architect). They should be inside the Death Row folder.

Cheers!

So there is an explanation. I get the impression that, in and of itself, is supposed to make me feel better. However, my complaint was the lack of adequate warning. Conveniently, Prison Architect has no ESRB rating. I would imagine the inclusion of certain imagery, particularly the one that I found (yes, it was the couple in bed that had apparently been shot in the head) would dictate a Mature rating. With the image appearing in the City Builder tech demo, if the demo were to be rated I would expect the same rating. Without such a rating, there would be no reason, in my opinion, to expect that sort of harsh content. I saw a couple of the other images that were part of that PR stunt, and the ones I saw were not nearly as graphic. This particular image that I found is at the heart of my complaint. This issue, like so many others, is a simple case of either you get it or you don't. I don't know what more I could add.

I completely understand where you're coming from and your being upset is undeniably justified. I just don't think there's anything anyone could have done to avoid this.

The tech demo was released in an unfinished state and it's not a game per se, getting it rated wouldn't make any sense. However, they did use it for a small publicity stunt and, yes, it does involve mature content. But warning about this content wouldn't make any sense, since it was intended to be unexpected and surprising when found.

The tech demo isn't going to get any updates I think, I'm surprised anyone is even still playing with it. (as cool as it was, it couldn't keep me entertained for more than 2 minutes). It's not even available anymore, since it was only available through that limited-time Humble Bundle.

I guess the only "solution" to this problem is for IV to have used more subtle imagery. For whatever artistic reason, they chose not to do that. I'm sure when they were making that decision they forgot that children were potentially going to run into these images, if they had realized that there's no way they'd have released it as it is.

tl;dr: bleh.

Now that I know better what I'm looking for, I was able to see more of promotional polaroids. Out of all the ones I've now seen, I'd say the first one that I was unlucky enough to have found by accident is the only one that really crosses the line. Had it been any of the other ones, I doubt I would have had anywhere near as strong a reaction.

I agree that having the demo rated doesn't make sense. It was never that the image itself offended me. On the contrary, I'm fine with with it, if presented in the appropriate context. It was poor judgement to include that particular image in the way that it was. That's something that could have been done differently, for sure.

I appreciate everyone who took the time to respond to me and thanks for hearing me out.
