Tales from the front line S01E03

Postby Byron » Fri Jul 11, 2008 8:11 pm

Tuesday was a really shocking day for me at the Flying Hamster. There I was minding my own business about to embark on a serious foray into the land of network bugs when I hear a loud pop from the general direction of Leander's Desk. It could have been him shuffling his mortal coil except for the fact he wasn't there. In fact, his first words to me when I came into the office were "don't turn on your PC" before running out and down the stairs. You would have thought was sufficient enough clues for me but no, I wander over to his desk to where I heard the pop come from and pull out the plug from the wall socket. Bad move - Water comes gushing out followed by a lot of protesting electricity.

It turns out that Morten - our graphic designer, thought it would be rather neat to have a shower before heading off back home on a flight later that day. The shower in turn thought it would be a rather neat to dump a heap of water into the wall which ended up in the power socket next to Leander - no wonder he ran out the room! Now, if only it had dropped an extra floor down into the directors room us lowly coders could have gotten some promotions by default that day :)

Obviously the development room was out of commission so we all had to work from home this week. So I have spent the week tracking down network and memory bugs. Want to know what happens to coders when they end up doing this? Click below to play:

Now, here's a challenge for you - make and post your multiwinia themed videos now!

A very wise lady, if I may say so.

I know a song... Well, CRAP!

Heh, when I clicked play on that video and put my headphones on, I scratched my head when I heard "Major Tom" in the background. Took me a second to realize I left Winamp playing.

Also, it took me a while to figure out the heading of that menu in the background. I'm interested in the reason for mirroring your video, Byron. ;)

The best part is that this time I'm right :D

Awesome videos! Byron and Rkiver's made me laugh my ass off, while ynbniar's made me scream "Nooooooo!" :(

<nitpick> The correct lyrics are "a song that gets on everybody's nerves" <nitpick> :P

Tell me about it. We went through 10 takes with me stopping it each time and reiterating that he was singing the wrong lyrics but would the Multiwinian listen? No, of course not. Kept babbling about having free will now and will sing whatever it damn well pleases. I gave up in the end. Stubborn little sod. I'm sure he adds bugs into the code when I am not looking too.
