It's quite possible. Although the value does seem a little high.

EDIT: A quick search revealed that humans have a little over 3 times more DNA than bananas, so that value is bound to be wrong.

Did you know that your lungs actually have a fractal dimension?

Offtopic but I also can't play the videos. While I have installed the recommended codecs, windows media player just shuts down after loading the filke. Rather odd, not seen that before.

I look forward to more news on the game however.

I've been a modeler for a few years now and everything around me is polygons. I'm also amazed how fast the world renders with full ray tracing AND global illumination.

I like the idea of a fully procedural city. Are there going to be autonomous agents existing within this world?

I think i did...but im not sure

Although this sentence is a rather good lie, it is ultimately and definitely wrong. (yes, I know this is a bit off-topic, but it is a common misconception that DNA defines a lot more than it actually does.)

Exactly what else defines biological structures? ( i mean physical things to avoid the whole nature-nurture arguement).

Oh the lies! He tells us he's developing a game but he's really trying to come up with the Theory of Everything (aka Unified Field Theory)

Mostly? Regulation. The same code can create several differents proteins and/or several different amounts depending on the conditions and who's making them.

A good example of the effects of regulation is the drosophila embryo, that at one point is a multi-nucleus single cell with different concentrations of several regulatory proteins across the cell. Depending of those concentrations and the combination of the several regulatory proteins, diferent parts of the cell will give origin to different types of tissues.

Which is basically what Chris said about the algorithms. One set of parameters generates city roads. A slightly different set generates office buildings.

Neat.

Chris,

After reading every blog post, there is one thing I see your prototypes being used for that makes me giddy inside. Being a huge fan of 24, I've always wanted to play a com specialist in a game, uplinking into government satellites and finding building blue prints and overlaying the infrared images from sat, then quickly grasping for the phone, speed dialing the man in the field and saying "Jack, I got sat uplink, you ready? There are four hostiles in the adjacent building to the north, one possibly roaming. We have a tac team on the way, but they won't be there for another ten minutes." If Subversion turns out to be that kind of game, I will freaking wet myself.

But if I'm forced to shuffle through the DoD hourlies and format them into tables and other stupid government protocols, I may get turned off.

Wet?
Game 4 is gonna steam/poach your WETWARE! (your brain)
It already has me.
I just hope that the cheat-codes have been properly spell-checked first...

this may turn out to be something like life@home... a unified attempt to calculate the answer of the question of life, the universe, and everything!

after all... 42 is a most rediculus number.

I have the same problem. No idea why... Try getting Media Player Classic. It runs pretty much everything, and is very light weight.
