The place to hang out and talk about totally anything general.

Introversion at Rezzed (Subversion/Prison Archictect)

Most notably was the statement about a paid alpha at 37:55 if I understood it correctly.

Other than that, I am really excited about the game and hope it arrives soon. A playable demo game at Rezzed was available, so maybe it is not that far ahead.
Did anyone of you guys try it? Don't tell me anything or I might want it even more.

It's great to see a simulation/management based game made by Introversion.

I don't see what is fun about running a prison.

I don't see what's fun about flying a plane or driving a car. But just look how those flight/driving simulators sell.

People have unique tastes.

It is a complex system that needs management, while still retaining its own freedom, so you can only turn and twist a few options (foundation, hiring people) and watch the complex system slowly change its behavior.
Same reason why Sim Earth was so much fun to me, you had a complex system that you could alter with parameters.

Quite an inspiring video really - just goes to show that even when you "fail" in some endevour, the effort put into it can propel you towards something even greater.

Defcon was an unique game of its kind. There are plenty of prison simulator, prison games, such as Prison Tycoon and etc.

Besides the fact that those games were bad, and the building of the prison was not your main focus. I see this game in the same vein as Dwarf fortress, except you are building and modifying the world around the characters that are actively trying to defy you.

As opposed to Dwarf Fortress, where they defy you because Dwarves are awful, and OH MY GOD CARP.
