Strategy games
Can someone recommend a good strategy game? I am intrested whether red alert 3 is worth a try.
Darwinia.
Defcon.
Multiwinia.
Red Alert 3 is enjoyable. I installed it last night, and it lives up to the usual Red Alert piss take of itself.

In that case, I suggest Go (aka Baduk or Wei-Qi).
If you're talking about computer games, how about Julian Gollop's games?
X-COM: Enemy Unknown, Rebelstar: Tactical Command, Laser Squad Nemesis?

Ok, that's taking all that health and safety bullshit too far. What happened to the snakes?...Feud wrote:Chess, or perhaps Chutes and Ladders.
As for strategy games, I'd second startopia (Although, if startopia is allowed, I'd suggest trying to get the original Dungeon Keeper running - not a 'strategy game' in essence, but very, very good.)
Otherwise, there's the most obvious: Civilization. I prefer the second, myself, but the most recent is good and has extra pretty.
Battle of Wesnoth is good too, and the pixel art is pretty fantastic.
But, yes, Chess is very good.
Whoever you vote for, the government wins.

I'd never heard of Snakes and Ladders, so I looked it up:
Wikipedia wrote:The game was sold as Snakes and ladders in England before Milton Bradley introduced the basic concept in the United States as Chutes and ladders, an "improved new version of ... England's famous indoor sport."

Since this introduction was in 1943, I had no idea that it had any other name.
