xander: it's possible to shrink/enlarge partitions without wiping. It's complicated, and some situations don't allow it, but it's possible nonetheless. So you'd have to shrink the main Mac partition (making sure all is defragged and in the right place) and then it's easy to create a new partiton. This would probably be one hell of a problem on a Windows filesystem...
Oh, and I'd code on Linux gcc and g++ is all you need

Yeah, the entire comment was an exercise in sarcastic humour that, appearantly, does not really come across very well in writing. From the point of view of a standard Mac fanboi, repartitioning is unneccessary, for the most part, but does require wiping the drive (general lack of knowledge, because Macs "just work"). Then, the continued Mac fanboi response is "why would you bother running WinXP?" For myself, when I get around to getting a new lappy, I am looking forward to tri-booting Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows. I will finally be able to run ArcGIS from home, and not have to use university or federal computers to get the job done.
Oh, well... this isn't the first time my humour has fallen flat on its face...
