It's fair to say that we've neglected our linux fans for a little while now, but I'm hoping to change that. I have just finished uploading:
- Nixinstaller
- 32 and 64 bit RPM
- 32 and 64 bit Deb
Packages for DEFCON and Multiwinia.

If you are linux fan, please let us know how you get on with them.

Hi Mark,

It seems to work well here. ... i'll don't have to manually sign scores anymore \o/ ..
FYI i wasn't allowed to change styles (to fit the previous style i used) and I had to create directories
/defcon/data and /defcon/data/styles (with good rights to write in it) to save the default.txt file used for syles.
... all my mods still seem to work good \o/ ...
I'll post here if there's any issue or notable inconvenient about eventual changes.

thx for all. :)

Hi,

Anti-aliasing doesn't seem to work anymore .. :-S

I've tried to enable 'smooth line' configuration point which was not before if I remember well ...
I've tried changing z-buffer depth (without ever knowing was does that change)
And I've of course enabled anti-aliasing but there's not way to get something smooth like with old version .. :x ...
Also .. old version also show same graphics now .. :-|

I'm running ubuntu 11.10. What more information could I provide ?

could someone help please ? :)

Hold down 'J' while you play.

Mark: you guys forgot some debug code in contrib/systemIV/lib/render/renderer.cpp.

hmmm .. hodling 'j' make the anti-aliasing working but once I stop holding 'j' ... it comes back ugly :-S ... how can I make that permanent ? :)

[EDIT] in fact old version renders well ... :s

You keep holding 'J', obviously :)

I suppose there is a way to trick the game into thinking it is held. Worst case, the installer version is using a version of SDL you can replace with a hacked one.

hmmm ... while, obiviously, I won't hold a key for hours of gaming .... do someone can provide a tips solving this please ? :(
Can I perhaps replace an actual conf file by another from the older version ? :(

well .. if nobody gives me a correct answer about anti-aliasing i'll just go back to the older version.
This new one is too much crappy if anti-aliasing can't be activated.
Thx for you help Bert, obviously useless ...
... :-S

You could try using your GPU config to enable FSAA. I'm on NVidia and __GL_FSAA_MODE=5 works. Though it doesn't look as nice as smooth lines.

hmmm ... I don't have any idea of what you're taking about .. :-S ... I'm using an eeepc 1000H .... don't even know what graphic card I have ... mesa I think ? .... hmmm ...
I think I'll still have to use the old version for long time .. :-S

Well, that's an Intel integrated chip in there which doesn't support full screen antialising. So you're stuck. Keep to the old version, the only thing missing for you AFAIK is the score sending.

Doesn't change anything. The 'full screen' (or more commonly, 'full scene', I should switch to that) in 'full screen antialising' doesn't refer to the video mode, just that antialising is applied to the whole rendered image. Antialiasing terminology is arbitrary and confusing.

oh ok ok .. thx for precision ... i just think about one thing ... I heard about a minicom testing .. and if defcon get new improvements and features that will make me to don't have choice to upgrade it will probably generate same issue ....
well .. we're not in this situation yet ... i(ll perhaps buy a harder computer before it happens .. we'll see
thx again for your answers ..
bye
