I didn't have to use that "verified by visa" system, despite the symbol on the page. I just entered the usual card number, expiration date, and cvv2.
Does it require you to use it?

I remember aaaaaaaages ago, having to set up some crappy password thing for my maestro card. Nowadays, whenever I try to use it online you need to enter 'letters 1 & 3 of your magic word' or whatever. Can I remember the word? Can I buggery!

Although oddly, using my visa debit card off another account I don't get any more security from any online shop than the standard. Weird. Maybe it's a credit / debit card difference, but either way I use that now, and all is well with the world.

If IV's past is use to predict the future, to play the Linux version, you will buy the Windows version, and apply a Linux patch/binary to that. Thus, your Windows key will work for the Linux version as well. That being said, if you don't care about the pretty tin box, then there is no reason for you to order now. However, if you want a shiny box, you probably should pre-order soonish, before they run out.

I used a temporary credit card service, since I don't have one myself. Don't know if you have something like that that is safe there.
