Nope, I'm guessing we'll be waiting on Ambrosia for that one as well. You could always try Parallels if you were desperate ( I know I'll be using wine :D )

I will use crossover games, something using the Wine engine. can I buy the windows version and use it with wine and then delete it after the mac version is out and use the mac version without paying again?

The long answer is also no.

Ambrosia not only publishes IV's games, but spend significant resources to help IV port the games, and manage the Mac beta process. They also provide technical support for the Mac version of the game, which saves IV the work of supporting the Mac version. If IV were to allow you to buy the Windows version, and use that on the Mac, Ambrosia would be forced to support people who did not buy the game from them, which is a waste thin resources.

Yay.

I should have a non-firewalled to the neckline connection by then.

Would've spent far, far more time playing Defcon the past year if they didn't have this silly nonsense that even postgrads shouldn't 'abuse' the blisteringly fast JANET system...

Any, shiny money for shiny tin box preorders when?

Steam itself says it will be available in September, too, that doesn't leave too much room for delays.

I don't know 11 days would be gutting if it ended up being released at the end of September on Steam but 19th on IV

It shouldn't be a hard or unreasonable question for the production team.

You could always order from IV to be sure you get it on time.

Ordered from Steam already - didn't have Darwinia so it was a deal to good to miss ($19.99 for both DW and MW). That said would be nice if release was the same time as IV. Either way next few days I plan to play throw Darwinia - liking what I am playing so far

Steam now says it will be available today: http://store.steampowered.com/app/1530/
The countdown says it will be approximately one hour later than the direct download from IV. Sounds like a tolerable delay to me ;)
